VOCSocks®

VOCSocks® are absorbent socks used for downwell treatment. All VOCSocks contain Osorb in order to capture volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other small, organic contaminants in water.

ABSMaterials produces two types of VOCSocks in a variety of sizes:

Passive VOCSocks are used in wells with fast-moving groundwater. We currently have two different passive  designs. Both versions of the passive VOCSock contain Osorb within a water-permeable barrier.

Active VOCSocks have an internal pump that circulates water through the sock, where the contaminants react with Osorb. Click the image below for a detailed diagram of an Active VOCSock.

The volume of contaminated material collected is dependent on which VOCSock is used and the type and degree of water contamination.

ABSMaterials regenerates Osorb and VOCSocks for reuse.

The ABS Lab conducts analysis on captured contaminants to determine the total mass and specific compounds collected from water.
